Repairs Air Conditioning

The biggest misconception is that air conditioning units blow cool air…What they do is take the warm air away from the inside of the house. HVAC techs are trained to look for issues such as thermostat settings, refrigerant leaks, lack of maintenance, dirty filters, sensor malfunctions and drainage problems. Whether you have a window or portable unit or central air, any of the above issues can cause the air conditioning to blow hot air. One of the keys to enjoying your air conditioner in the summer is to have the proper maintenance performed on the recommended frequency.

The keys to choosing the correct type of air conditioning system are size, seers and how often you will be using the system. Here is a list of the different types of air conditioning: window unit, portable which is easily moved from room to room, mini-split ductless AC, central air, geothermal heating and cooling and floor mounted air conditioner.

Understanding the difference between AC and HVAC is that AC air conditioning is only one part of the of HVAC, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. The HVAC technicians are well versed in both the heating, including boilers and heat pumps, ventilation, and air conditioning systems. These different units can have drastically dissimilar maintenance requirements. Boilers should be serviced every year whereas the portable window units can go 10-15 years without maintenance.

If you don’t get your unit regularly maintained or if your AC is a couple of years old, chances are that you may need to schedule an appointment to get it fixed when it starts to malfunction.

Which would also include rebooting the system, unclogging the filter and cleaning the unit.

However, note that the cost to fix an AC by appointment will still vary. This depends on the type of repair done, the type of your AC unit, if there were replacements needed, labor and if you had an emergency AC repair.
